A "ride" in the park of culture

On the periphery of the area specified as the competition area, there are Reşat Oyal Culture Park, Millet Garden, Atatürk Anatolian High School and Stadium Street, which is an important axis in Bursa city. When the references of the land and the environment of the region are examined, it is seen that the Reşat Oyal Culture Park and Milet garden area is left to the use of the city dwellers as green in the city plan. There are dense high-rise building blocks in the Çarşamba area separated by Stadium Avenue. Despite the dense construction in the Çarşamba Region, it is a valuable and important public focal area at the city scale with its aura within the cultural park. The cultural park allows the citizens to maintain their relations with nature as the representation of nature in the city. Culture parks are constantly diversifying and gaining new meanings in line with the new usage needs brought by the time. In all this diversity, cultural parks are the use of contemporary green spaces that express both nature and the city with cultural activities and green users. In this context, we have taken the idea of not damaging the cover and aura of this area, which we think is important for the city. This area, which welcomes us as a green natural center in urban settlement, will cause the area to lose its place in the city scale and its value in life by artificial massive movements far from the human scale. Because of this anxiety and worry, we found it necessary to make arrangements close to the ground in human scale, instead of glorious glorious touches. We aimed to create an attitude that integrates the design with the competition area and its surroundings and takes user continuity into account. However, we think that the elevations and retaining areas around the competition area constitute an obstacle in the formation of the integrity and continuity of these areas between the culture park and the nation garden. Therefore, we can say that direct access to the cultural park with the competition area and the relationship with the public garden is disconnected.

We think that the relationship between the Cultural Park and the National Garden is a part of the pattern we want to create by ensuring its integrity and continuity in the competition area. On the one hand, we found it necessary to access the competition area from the Stadium Street, which we see as an important axis of the area, which is used extensively by the city residents, preferred by public transportation vehicles as a route and where the connection with the Çarşamba District is established. With the approach we think of creating from the stadium street, we aimed to carry the aura of the Kültür Park to the Çarşamba area and the street with a busy user axis. Thus, we thought of the Stadium Street as a city gate opening to the aura of nature and green, rather than a city axis squeezed between two buildings in the silhouette. We reexamined the relationship between Atatürk Anatolian High School, which currently serves as a school structure, and the curtain walls in the competition area; We think that it is necessary to create more accessible, clearly defined areas instead of undefined surfaces created with elements such as curtains for the continuity of the area.

STRUCTURAL DECISIONS IN IDEA DIRECTION:

In the light of these decisions made on behalf of the design, we kept the elevations around the land while creating the organization of the volumes requested in the requirement program. Levels giving reference to different points in the field and providing different approach possibilities; According to the spatial patterns desired in the requirement program, we have shaped the mass according to the approaches by keeping the mass on the ground. We tried to differentiate volumes with different functions and autonomous areas, thanks to the elevations. With these ideas that affect the shaping of the structure of the land, we have provided access to the area with a vertical axis descending with an amphitheater at +152,00 elevation, which holds the Milet garden, which is the highest level of the existing area. We aimed to enrich the green texture of the public garden and to strengthen the relationship of the area with the user with the green bases we created at +152,00 elevation. At the +148,00 elevation, we thought that the approach from the stadium street is the athlete entrance and parking lot, which is divided into two by the axis coming from the public garden elevation; We designed the base left by the Kültür Park as a hall entrance. We have included management offices at 148.00 level and some of them specified in the requirement program. We greened the surface to strengthen the relationship of the base with the area and to ensure its continuity with the texture. It is thought that this will support the active use of green and allow the use of the area day and night; We have positioned the unit specified as a cafe in the requirement program to the base at this level. We tried to emphasize the meaning and importance of the monumental tree with the seating units created by preserving the monumental tree in the base and by raising a few steps around the tree. We bought a parking ramp for the sports hall at 148.00 altitude and passed under the multi-storey car park ramp under the public garden at the existing 149.60 elevation, and provided access to the parking lot. Thus, we prevented the formation of unnecessary ramp areas in the area by keeping the parking ramp in the existing land.

At 143.00 elevation, we invited the people from the Culture Park and the approach coming from the stadium street, which we consider as an important axis in the project, to the pool and sports hall volumes by inviting the users into the spaces. In this case, we enabled the volumes created as a foyer to intersect on the axis coming from the Public Garden, Kültür Park and Stadium Street, and to be used as an open foyer in this area before or after sports competitions. We strengthened the perception of the open foyer at this intersection, where the 143.00 elevation was created, by separating it from the ground landscape. As seen in the existing Culture park texture, we designed a benchmark point where these axes meet in front of the foyer, just as the widening axes in the intersection areas form a benchmark. With the amphitheater holding the slope on the land perimeter created on the stadium street side, we made it possible for the area to be used for other activities other than the foyer. With the amphitheater created in the direction of this slope, we have allowed the users who use the stadium street intensively to enter the building in an inviting way and allow people to intervene in the area on a modest scale. We did not spoil the atmosphere of the users coming from the culture park and provided access to the green spaces and other important benchmark areas in their own aura. At 138.00 elevation, we have positioned the gym, pool and necessary spaces for athletes. We designed this jeans as an autonomous area for athletes. With the foyer designed in front of the basketball court, we established a visual relationship between the athlete and the audience before the competition. In order to monitor the competitions clearly, we positioned the audience seats in the amphitheater seating arrangement by raising 1 meter from the floors where the competition will be held, and we resolved the parking and technical volumes at 135.00 and 132.00 elevations.

LANDSCAPE:

Design; We aimed to construct a compact structure with the aura of the cultural park located near the site. The landscaping decisions taken in the entire area are also in order to ensure the continuity of this setup, and we designed the landscape by combining green on the surfaces and hard grounds on the approach and axes. With this method, we enabled the users to explore different places in the area while guiding the users on the floor covering. We have edited different hard ground and soft ground characters together to form a whole.
